The Salty Manifesto

Every great movement needs a manifesto. Ours is short, because manifestos should never outlast the ice in your drink. These are the beliefs we salt the rim with. Disagree at your own peril — or don't, we're not the boss of you. (We are, however, right.)

1. Salt belongs on the rim.

   It is a lifestyle, a personality trait, and — when caked on the rim of a glass — a load-bearing structure. We do not fear sodium. We respect it, we celebrate it, and we keep the good flaky stuff within arm's reach at all times.

2. Lime is not optional.

   A drink without lime is a story without an ending. A margarita without lime is a cry for help. We squeeze with conviction, we wedge with purpose, and we judge — silently, lovingly — the bottle of neon-green "juice" in your fridge door.

3. Fresh beats fancy, every time.

   You don't need a smoking gun, a centrifuge, or a bartender with suspenders and opinions. You need a decent bottle, a sharp knife, fresh citrus, and the confidence of someone who has made this drink forty times. Technique is just repetition with salt on it.

4. The best seat is outside.

   Patios, beaches, tailgates, fire escapes, the bed of a pickup truck — if there's sky above you and something cold in your hand, you're doing it right. Air conditioning is a backup plan, not a lifestyle.

5. Good enough is the enemy of the second round.

   Life is too short for a mediocre margarita when a great one takes the same ninety seconds. Measure the lime. Chill the glass. Salt the whole rim, not half of it like you're afraid of commitment. Do it right or do it twice.

6. Share the limes, keep the takes.

   Drinks are for sharing — cut the extra wedge, pass the bottle, mix the big batch. Opinions, on the other hand, are yours to wield responsibly. Be funny, be sharp, be kind. Nobody ever won an argument at a beach bonfire, and that's the point.

7. Stay salty, never bitter.

   There's a difference, and it's the whole brand. Salty is flavor. Salty is character. Salty is the rim that makes the drink. Bitter is what happens when the ice melts and the moment passes. We choose salty, every single time.
